Kaitlyn Walls, a single mom who has been job-hunting for months, thought she’d finally caught a break when she landed a new position at a day-care center in The Colony, Tex.
We can probably all agree that child hating — though often causally connected to child watching — is not a résumé builder, especially for anyone hoping to excel in the day-care industry.
Note to job hunters: Do not apply for a job that you would hate.
Not surprisingly, a backlash began on Walls’s Facebook page before spreading to a yard sale group with more than 8,000 members, according to Jezebel, which subsequently mapped Walls’s rapid demise.
“I had all these girls attacking me because I don’t want to be around a lot of kids all the time,” Walls said. “I actually cried. It really hurt me because I wasn’t trying to offend anybody ever.”
The day-care operators heard about the post, contacted Walls and told her not to bother coming back, according to WPIX.
“Oh, man, I made a big mistake,” Walls wrote on Facebook afterward. “I’m so sad. I feel like a failure here looking at my daughter crying because I’m afraid that I’m not going to be able to find a job because of my own stupidity.”
Walls can take solace in the fact that she’s hardly unique.
Another Texas woman, who uses the Twitter handle @Cella, posted the following statement on Twitter in February:
“Eww I start this [f$#% a*%] job tomorrow,” followed by seven “thumbs down” emojis.
Her new boss responded.
